कर्मणा येन केशाः स्युः स्निग्धाः कुसुमवर्षिणः । नाकारि कर्णवेधोस्य जनित्रा समये शुभे
karmaṇā yena keśāḥ syuḥ snigdhāḥ kusumavarṣiṇaḥ | nākāri karṇavedhosya janitrā samaye śubhe
(C’est le rite) par lequel les cheveux deviennent lisses, brillants et « dispensateurs de fleurs » (c’est-à-dire de bon augure et de charme); pourtant, ses parents n’accomplirent pas, au moment propice, le percement des oreilles (karṇavedha).
