Tirtha: Kāśī-Avimukta
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and sages
Scene: Śiva speaks directly, naming the sage ‘Bṛhaspati’ and appointing him as venerable among the grahas; a celestial aura suggests planetary order and guruhood.
Austerity (tapas) offered with devotion culminates in divine appointment—Śiva elevates the devotee to a cosmic role.
The teaching occurs within the Kāśīkhaṇḍa framework, reflecting Kāśī’s tradition of Śiva as bestower of siddhi and status.
Tapas (austerity) is affirmed as the cause of attainment; no specific vow details are enumerated in this verse.
