Type: sangam
Listener: viprāḥ / sages addressed as ‘O brāhmaṇas’
Scene: A luminous river-confluence with many small shrines and bathing-ghāṭas; brāhmaṇas and pilgrims gather on a parvan day while a sage points out the ‘special distinctions’ of the tīrthas.
Sacred places gain heightened efficacy at auspicious times; timing (parvan) intensifies tīrtha merit.
The Kāverī-saṅgama is highlighted as exceptionally endowed with five hundred tīrthas.
The verse implies observances at tīrthas on parvan days, though it does not specify a single rite.
