Mārkaṇḍeya (addressing the King)
Tirtha: Koṭīśvara-tīrtha (contextual)
Type: kshetra
Listener: A king (nṛpashreṣṭha)
Scene: A symbolic depiction of a tīrtha as a cosmic scale: offerings and misdeeds both weigh heavier, with a radiant aura over the riverbank shrine indicating koṭi-fold consequence.
At highly charged sacred places, actions carry amplified consequences—therefore one should act with heightened purity and restraint.
Koṭīśvara Tīrtha (Koṭitīrtha) on the southern bank of the Narmadā.
No single rite is mandated; the verse prescribes ethical vigilance because all deeds there become koṭi-fold in effect.
