तत्र तीर्थे तु यः स्नात्वा कुरुते प्राणसंक्षयम् । बर्हियुक्तेन यानेन स गच्छेच्छिवमन्दिरे
tatra tīrthe tu yaḥ snātvā kurute prāṇasaṃkṣayam | barhiyuktena yānena sa gacchecchivamandire
En ce tīrtha, celui qui s’y baigne puis y abandonne son souffle vital, se rend au sanctuaire-demeure de Śiva, porté par un char orné de l’herbe sacrée barhis.

Scene: A pilgrim completes Narmadā snāna at Gopeśvara and, at life’s end, is received by a radiant celestial vimāna decorated with barhis-grass, ascending toward Śiva’s luminous mandira.
The Purāṇa depicts certain tīrthas as gateways to Śiva’s realm, emphasizing the extraordinary sanctity attributed to place and vow.
