Type: kshetra
Listener: Yudhiṣṭhira
Scene: Mārkaṇḍeya in Daṇḍaka, welcomed by assemblies of sages; a tranquil forest āśrama with kuśa seats, sacrificial fires, and years passing symbolically (ten-thousand-year span).
Association with sages and sustained spiritual life sanctify a region and prepare the ground for tīrtha greatness.
Daṇḍaka is named as the sacred setting from which the Narmadā tīrtha narrative proceeds.
No explicit rite; the verse emphasizes ṛṣi-saṅga (company of sages) and long-term spiritual residence.
