Skanda Purana — Avanti Khanda, Shloka 5

कृत्वा तत्कदनं घोरं नन्दा देवी सुरेश्वरी । यस्मात्स्नाता विशालाक्षी तेन नन्दाह्रदः स्मृतः

kṛtvā tatkadanaṃ ghoraṃ nandā devī sureśvarī | yasmātsnātā viśālākṣī tena nandāhradaḥ smṛtaḥ

Après avoir accompli cette destruction redoutable, la déesse Nandā, souveraine des dieux, s’y baigna ; et parce que la Déesse aux grands yeux s’y est baignée, on s’en souvient sous le nom de « Nandā-hrada » (le Lac de Nandā).
