eraṇḍyāṃ ca mahādevo dṛṣṭo me manmatheśvaraḥ | kiṃ samartho yamo ruṣṭo bhadro bhadrāṇi paśyati
Mārkaṇḍeya (deduced from immediate continuation in Adhyāya 103)
Tirtha: Ēraṇḍī—Manmatheśvara kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: King (rājan)
Scene: The narrator/devotee stands before a liṅga of Manmatheśvara at Ēraṇḍī; a subdued, shadowy Yama figure is rendered powerless at the boundary, while Śiva’s gaze radiates auspiciousness.
Darśana of Śiva at a powerful tīrtha grants auspiciousness and removes fear, even of death.
Ēraṇḍī, associated with Manmatheśvara, within the Revā-khaṇḍa.
No specific rite is prescribed here; it emphasizes the saving power of darśana at the site.
