Śiva’s Freedom from Bondage and His Cosmic Support
Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīya teaching to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: This verse is a nirguṇa-paratva statement (Śiva beyond kāla/kalā/niyati), not tied to a specific Jyotirliṅga origin episode.
Significance: Contemplation of Śiva’s transcendence over time, limitation (kalā), and niyati supports vairāgya and steadiness in jñāna-bhakti.
Type: stotra
It declares Śiva (Pati) as transcendent: untouched by time, limitation, karmic necessity (niyati), and the dualities of attachment and hatred—pointing the seeker toward liberation through union with the timeless Lord.
The Liṅga is worshipped as the accessible sign of the very same Śambhu who is ultimately beyond all measures and dualities; Saguna worship purifies rāga-dveṣa and leads the mind to realize His Nirguna transcendence.
Meditate on Śiva as beyond time and emotion while repeating the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya); cultivate neutrality toward rāga-dveṣa, supported by traditional Shaiva aids like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as reminders of detachment.
