Shiva Purana — Vayaviya Samhita, Shloka 34

शिवस्य परापरब्रह्मस्वरूपनिर्णयः / Determination of Śiva as Higher and Lower Brahman

एवं विकल्प्यमानं तु याथात्म्यं परमेष्ठिनः । नाध्यवस्यंति मुनयो नानाप्रत्ययकारणात्

evaṃ vikalpyamānaṃ tu yāthātmyaṃ parameṣṭhinaḥ | nādhyavasyaṃti munayo nānāpratyayakāraṇāt

Ainsi, tandis que la vraie nature de Parameṣṭhin (le Seigneur suprême) est conjecturée de multiples façons, les sages n’aboutissent pas à une détermination ultime, car la diversité des notions et des fondements de croyance devient la cause de leur incertitude.
