Classification and Definition of Yoga
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that samādhi reveals prajñā—clarifying awareness—so the mind becomes completely steady, enabling direct insight into Shiva as Pati (the Lord) beyond mental fluctuation.
Linga-worship supports one-pointedness; as attention stabilizes on Shiva’s sign (Liṅga), the devotee’s mind ripens toward inner absorption where only the essential meaning remains, leading from saguna contemplation to subtler realization.
Practice steady dhyāna leading to samādhi—often supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and calm, sustained concentration until the mind becomes ‘set’ and unmoving.
