Mantra Efficacy, Removal of Obstacles, and the Role of Faith/Discipline
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Doctrinal clarification: apparent ‘fruitlessness’ is not a defect in Deva; when practice is yathokta (as enjoined), fruit becomes visible even here—affirming the Lord’s justice and the efficacy of right observance.
Role: liberating
It affirms the Shaiva Siddhanta principle that Pati (Śiva) is faultless and just; if results seem delayed, the limitation is in human perception, timing, or method—not in the Lord. When practice aligns with śāstra and devotion, its fruit inevitably becomes evident, even within this life.
Linga-worship is a śāstric, saguna mode of approaching the nirguna-tattva of Śiva. The verse teaches that if one worships as prescribed—right mantra, right attitude, right observances—the Lord’s grace and tangible outcomes (śānti, clarity, protection, inner purity) manifest; perceived lack of result is not a defect in Śiva.
Follow the prescribed Shaiva discipline with fidelity: regular Linga-pūjā, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and steady observance with purity and devotion—without blaming the deity when results are not immediate.
