पञ्चावरणमार्गस्थं योगेश्वरस्तोत्रम्
Pañcāvaraṇa-mārga Stotra to Yogeśvara Śiva
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; the verse functions as a bhakti-marker: the Lord’s attendant is sanctified by Śiva’s foot-contact, a sign of grace (anugraha).
Significance: Contemplation of Śiva’s pāda (feet) and His sevaka’s sanctification is framed as purifying—modeling how the bound soul (paśu) is elevated by contact with Pati.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It praises the Shaiva ideal: the devotee becomes holy not merely by effort, but by Śiva’s grace—symbolized by Śiva’s feet sanctifying the devotee’s very being (Pati purifying the paśu).
The verse emphasizes Saguna devotion—loving attachment to Śiva and visible emblems like Śiva’s banner—supporting focused worship of Śiva’s form (including the Liṅga) as a doorway to His supreme reality.
Practice śaraṇāgati and pāda-smaraṇa: meditate on Śiva’s feet while repeating the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and outwardly honor Śiva with His symbols (dhvaja), alongside Shaiva observances like bhasma and rudrākṣa where appropriate.
