Même celui qui s’adonne à une conduite mauvaise et pécheresse—qu’il soit meurtrier de sa mère ou même de son père—en récitant ce cantique, est délivré de ces fautes correspondantes.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: General stotra-māhātmya: even mahāpātakas like mātṛhatyā/pitṛhatyā are said to be remitted by japa of the Śiva-stava—an anugraha-centered claim rather than a site legend.
Significance: Emphasizes Śiva’s grace as stronger than karmic demerit when approached through stotra-japa with repentance and devotion.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It proclaims the extraordinary purifying power of sincere Shiva-stotra japa: even the gravest karmic stains can be loosened and burnt by devotion, because Shiva (Pati) grants grace that severs the bonds (pāśa) of sin.
The verse emphasizes accessible Saguna worship—approaching Shiva through praise and repetition. In Shiva Purana practice, such stotra-japa is commonly performed before the Shiva Linga as an act of bhakti that invokes Shiva’s saving compassion.
Regular japa (repetition) of the referenced stava (hymn), ideally with purity of intent; it can be paired with Shiva-Linga worship, Panchakshara remembrance, and traditional Shaiva observances like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa where appropriate.
