Pañcāvaraṇa-mārga Stotra to Yogeśvara Śiva
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Bhairava
Shakti Form: Durgā
Role: destructive
It teaches that closeness to Shiva (Pati) requires inner purity and dharmic disposition; tamas, deceit, ingratitude, and hostile heresy reinforce pāśa (bondage) and therefore remain incompatible with Shiva’s grace in the Shaiva Siddhanta sense.
Linga/Saguna Shiva worship is not merely external ritual; it demands bhakti with ethical alignment—truthfulness, gratitude, and sattva. This verse underscores that ritual without right conduct becomes hollow, keeping the worshipper ‘distant’ from Shiva’s presence.
Adopt sattvic disciplines alongside Shiva-upasana: daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), wearing Tripuṇḍra with reverence, and maintaining conduct free from deceit and harmful acts—so the mind becomes fit for Shiva-dhyana.
