द्वितीयतृतीयावरणपूजाक्रमः | The Sequence of the Second and Third Enclosure Worship (Āvaraṇa-pūjā)

Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Darśana of Śiva-Śakti with añjali and prīti is framed as a grace-bearing encounter that softens bondage (pāśa) through devotion and receptivity.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It highlights bhakti expressed through añjali (folded hands) and sustained darśana of Shiva and the Goddess—signs of the soul (paśu) turning toward Pati and receiving inward steadiness, joy, and grace.
The verse emphasizes saguna-upāsanā—devotees lovingly beholding the personal Lord and the Goddess. In practice, the same devotion is directed to the Shiva Linga as Shiva’s accessible form for darśana and worship.
Adopt añjali with a gentle smile and devotional attention, then practice steady darśana during pūjā—optionally accompanying it with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to keep the mind lovingly fixed on Shiva.
