Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīya teaching to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: teaching
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that sacred time—especially during a Shiva observance—should be consecrated through śravaṇa and kathā of Śiva-śāstra, so the mind becomes purified and oriented toward Pati (Śiva), loosening the bonds of pāśa through devotion and right understanding.
The verse pairs scriptural contemplation with formal pūjā, indicating Saguna worship (often through the Śiva-liṅga) supported by hearing Śiva’s teachings; in Shaiva Siddhanta, such disciplined devotion prepares the soul for Śiva’s grace (anugraha).
Maintain a night vigil by engaging in Śiva-śāstra recitation/discourse, then perform an early-night pūjā with focused mind—ideally with mantra-japa (e.g., Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and traditional aids like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa where customary.
