The Greatness of the Pañcākṣarī (Five-Syllable) Mantra
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Affirms universal eligibility (adhikāra) for Śiva-bhakti: even the fallen (patita) and deluded (mūḍha) can be released through sincere stuti/arcana, highlighting Śiva’s grace over prior disqualification.
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It teaches Śiva’s role as Pati (the Liberator): sincere stuti and arcana invoke grace that cuts the pāśa (bondage), so even the morally fallen or intellectually deluded can be purified and led toward mokṣa.
The verse emphasizes worship through a sūkta (hymn) and arcana—typical of Saguna Śiva devotion—often performed before the Śiva-liṅga, where praise and offering become a direct channel for Śiva’s saving compassion.
Regular stotra-pāṭha (recitation of the prescribed hymn) together with Śiva-arcana (offerings/worship), ideally with steady remembrance of Śiva’s name and form, as a practical means of purification and release.
