Qu’il offre une eau fraîche, filtrée à travers un tissu—particulièrement convenable pour le bain et pour boire—et aussi un beau parasol, blanc comme la lune, orné d’un collier de perles éclatant.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Significance: Cloth-filtered cool water signifies śauca (ritual purity) and care in abhiṣeka/ācamanīya; offering a parasol (chatra) is a royal honor (rāja-lakṣaṇa) to the Lord, accruing merit.
The verse highlights sattvic upacharas—pure, cooling, and carefully prepared offerings—showing that devotion to Shiva (Pati) is expressed through cleanliness, mindfulness, and reverent service rather than mere display.
In Linga/Saguna worship, water is central for abhisheka and for sanctifying the worshipper; cloth-filtered cool water signifies purity and care. The moon-like parasol and pearl garland are royal honors offered to Shiva as the supreme Lord, acknowledging His sovereignty while the devotee remains humble.
Prepare clean, cool, cloth-filtered water for Shiva’s abhisheka and offer it with focused bhakti; accompany the offering with japa of the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and a calm, cooling intention (śānti-bhāva).
