Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Ishana
Significance: Mahāpūjā to Īśa is framed as a means to receive anugraha (grace) through correct vidhi; the eastward orientation signifies auspicious ‘udaya’ (illumination) of knowledge and devotion.
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It emphasizes that devotion (bhakti) becomes spiritually effective when guided by vidhi—disciplined, mantra-centered worship directed to Īśa (Shiva), aligning the worshipper (paśu) toward the Lord (pati) through purifying ritual order.
By instructing worship at the maṇḍala and mantra-kumbha, the verse points to Saguna Shiva worship where Shiva is approached through sanctified supports (like the linga, kumbha, and ritual space) empowered by mantra and correct procedure.
It suggests performing a structured mahāpūjā—setting the maṇḍala, placing attention in the eastern direction, energizing the kumbha with mantra, and completing the worship exactly “as before,” i.e., following the established sequence of Shiva-puja with mantra recitation.
