Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Ishana
Significance: General Śaiva-āgamic/paurāṇika pūjā procedure: correct nyāsa of vessels and mantra-śakti is said to remove ritual obstacles (vighna) and stabilize worship.
It emphasizes ordered, mindful worship: arranging the lotus-seat and sanctified water implements trains the devotee’s attention (bhakti with discipline), making the outer rite a support for inner concentration on Shiva as Pati, the liberator.
The lotus-seat arrangement and sandalwater preparation are elements of saguna-upasana—supportive ritual forms used to approach Shiva’s presence in worship (commonly centered on the Linga), so the mind becomes steady and receptive to grace.
Prepare the lotus-seat (āsana) with directional placement and keep sandal-scented water in a consecrated vessel (vardhanī), using it with mantra-recitation as part of puja to strengthen (empower) the rite and focus.
