It emphasizes that devotion (bhakti) should be supported by purity and right ritual order (vidhi), preparing a sanctified seat and vessel for Śiva so the worship becomes a fit channel for grace (anugraha) and inner purification.
The Śiva-kumbha is a ritual support for Saguna worship—especially for abhiṣeka and consecrated offerings—through which the devotee approaches Śiva with form and attributes, while cultivating reverence that can mature toward knowledge of Śiva as the supreme Pati.
Prepare a clean worship base with grains, sesame, flowers, and kuśa; then place and decorate a properly marked kumbha for Śiva, to be used for mantra-infused water offerings and abhiṣeka (commonly alongside japa such as Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
