कैलासगमनं कुबेरसख्यं च — Śiva’s Journey to Kailāsa and His Friendship with Kubera
सांप्रतं नेक्ष्यते सोऽपि भृंगारो मणिमंडितः । पट्टसूत्रमयी सापि त्रिपटी या मयार्पिता
sāṃprataṃ nekṣyate so'pi bhṛṃgāro maṇimaṃḍitaḥ | paṭṭasūtramayī sāpi tripaṭī yā mayārpitā
« À présent, ce bhṛṅgāra orné de joyaux ne se voit plus ; et la triple bande de fils de soie (tripatī) que j’avais offerte ne se voit plus non plus. »
Suta Goswami (narrating the Rudra Saṃhitā account to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya, conveying the concerned speaker’s words in the story)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse highlights the impermanence of external, ornamented possessions and even ritual gifts; Shaiva Siddhānta emphasizes that enduring spiritual progress comes from sincere devotion and right understanding of Pati (Shiva), not from clinging to objects.
It suggests that while Saguna worship uses tangible items (vessels, threads, ornaments), their value is secondary to inner bhakti and reverence for Shiva; Linga worship is fulfilled by purity of intention rather than the permanence or luxury of offerings.
Practice offering with non-attachment—perform simple Shiva-pūjā with mantra-japa (especially the Panchākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and cultivate inner steadiness, rather than relying on ornate materials.
