Determination of Flower-Offerings to Śiva
Suta Goswami (narrating the prescribed mode of Shiva worship to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: By insisting on ‘mad-ukta-mantra’ and coupling pūjā with brahma-bhojya (feeding Brāhmaṇas), the verse frames ritual correctness and dāna as conduits for anugraha—grace mediated through dharma and the guru/śāstra lineage.
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that Śiva-pūjā becomes complete when done with the correctly transmitted mantra and supported by dharmic generosity—especially honoring the spiritually learned through feeding—purifying the devotee and aligning action with devotion.
The verse emphasizes mantra-guided, rule-based worship—typical of Saguna Śiva devotion—where the Linga is approached through prescribed mantra, offerings, and concluding acts like Brahmana-bhojana to seal the rite with auspicious merit.
Perform Śiva-pūjā using the stated mantra, and complete the observance with Brahmana-bhojana described as Prājāpatya—an act of sacred hospitality and dana that supports the vow’s fruit.
