En vérité, aujourd’hui ma propre gloire a été assurément accrue par toi. Pourtant, parfois une faute survient ; je t’en prie, pardonne-la.
Brahmā (in the Sṛṣṭi narrative, addressing Lord Śiva/Rudra with humility)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It highlights the Shaiva virtue of humility: even exalted beings acknowledge that imperfections can arise and seek Śiva’s forgiveness, implying that grace (anugraha) purifies the soul beyond its faults.
Linga/Saguna worship emphasizes approaching Śiva as the compassionate Lord who accepts confession and devotion; the verse models an attitude of reverence and surrender that makes worship fruitful.
A practical takeaway is daily repentance and surrender during japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya), concluding worship with a kṣamā-prārthanā (prayer for forgiveness) alongside bhasma/rudrākṣa-dhāraṇa if one follows those observances.
