शिवविहारवर्णनम् (Śivavihāra-varṇana) — “Description of Śiva’s Divine Pastimes/Sojourn”
Vishnu (Hari)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
Offering: pushpa
It presents Śiva (Hara/Śambhu) as the Sarvalokaprabhu—the supreme Lord of all worlds—whom even Hari (Viṣṇu) reverently praises, highlighting bhakti and humility as core Shaiva virtues leading toward grace and liberation.
By praising Śambhu through Vedic hymns, the verse supports saguna-upāsanā—devotional worship of Śiva with attributes—often expressed in the Purāṇa through stuti before the Liṅga or the manifest form of Śiva, affirming that sincere praise invokes Śiva’s anugraha (grace).
A practical takeaway is daily stuti and japa: recite Śiva-stotras or Vedic-inspired praises and pair them with the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), cultivating heartfelt devotion (mahāprīti) as the inner offering.
