Bharata’s Petition and Rama’s Dharma-Reasoning
The maharja of great radiance made this division in the presence of people and after commanding thus, ascended heaven.
A king’s public command and settlement of succession carry moral force; dharma treats such a declaration as binding and socially witnessed.
Rama recalls Daśaratha’s final public decision and his subsequent passing.
Respect for legitimate authority and public order—Rama frames the issue as a settled, witnessed ordinance.
