FAQs

The verse links specific homa offerings (color and preparation of lotus flowers) with distinct results—Śrī (prosperity) and mahad-yaśas (great renown)—showing how intention and ritual precision are treated as spiritually consequential in the Purāṇic-vaidika framework.

Although framed as ritual science, the offering of lotuses and ‘sweet substances’ functions as an act of reverent worship; the promised fruits are presented as outcomes of devoted, orderly worship performed with faith and purity.

It highlights ritual-technical knowledge (kalpa/vaidika-karman): the prescribed dravya (lotus), its guṇa (red/white), and its saṃskāra (anointing with madhura-traya) as variables that determine the stated phala (result) of a homa.
