Narada Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 135

The Exposition of the Krishna Mantra (Kṛṣṇa-mantra-prakāśa): Nyāsa, Dhyāna, Worship, Yantra, and Prayoga

FAQs

It teaches that tarpaṇa (the act of satisfying through libations/offerings) is not merely auxiliary; when done with mantra-awareness it becomes a complete means for siddhi—supporting and even fulfilling the aims of other ritual acts.

By linking japa with tarpaṇa, the verse emphasizes devotion expressed through disciplined, repeated remembrance (mantra-japa) and reverent offering—turning ritual into sustained upāsanā rather than mechanical action.

A practical ritual-rule of saṅkhyā (count/measure): the japa-count should match the duration/extent of tarpaṇa, reflecting technical procedural precision typical of kalpa-oriented instruction (ritual science within Vedāṅga practice).
