The Account of Hanumān
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
Secondary Rasa: shanta (peace)
It highlights īśvara-anugraha (divine grace): when a deity is pleased, a boon is offered, and the seeker’s proper response is humility and discernment in choosing what truly benefits the soul.
Bhakti is implied through Śaṅkara’s satisfaction and Gautama’s reverent reply—devotion matures into a relationship of grace and gratitude, where the devotee responds with respectful surrender rather than entitlement.
The verse models śiṣṭācāra (learned conduct) in dialogue—listening (ākaraṇa/śravaṇa) and responding sādaram—an essential discipline for transmitting śāstra, including Vedāṅga learning, through respectful teacher–student communication.
