The Narration of the Navamī Vow Observed Across the Twelve Months
Narada (teaching in the Narada Purana dialogue stream associated with the Sanatkumara tradition)
Vrata: Nandā-navamī (tithi observance)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It sacralizes a specific tithi—Bhādrapada Śukla Navamī—by naming it ‘Nandā’ and teaches that Devi worship performed with proper ritual order (vidhi) and offerings (upacāras) becomes a focused dharmic means for auspiciousness and protection.
It frames bhakti as disciplined worship: devotion is expressed not only through feeling but through reverent, rule-guided pūjā to Durgā, using upacāras as tangible acts of surrender and honor.
It relies on calendrical/astronomical timekeeping—tithi and month reckoning (Bhādrapada, Śukla Navamī)—which aligns with Jyotiṣa-style ritual timing used in Purāṇic vrata practice.
