The exposition of the Pañcamī vow to be observed in the twelve months
पौषेऽपि शुक्लपञ्चम्यां सम्पूज्य मधुसूदनम् । लभते बाञ्छितान्कामान्नात्र कार्या विचारणा ॥ ६० ॥
pauṣe'pi śuklapañcamyāṃ sampūjya madhusūdanam | labhate bāñchitānkāmānnātra kāryā vicāraṇā || 60 ||
Narada (teaching within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue framework)
Vrata: Pañcamī-vrata (Madhusūdana-pūjā variant within the twelve-month scheme)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It affirms the fruit-bearing power of sincere Viṣṇu-upāsanā performed on an auspicious tithi (Śukla Pañcamī in Pauṣa), emphasizing faith and certainty in dharmic observances.
By centering the result on “sampūjya Madhusūdana”—proper worship of Viṣṇu—the verse presents bhakti expressed through pūjā as a direct means to fulfilling legitimate aims, urging unwavering trust (“no need for doubt”).
It relies on calendrical discipline—tithi and pakṣa reckoning (a Jyotiṣa/Vedāṅga application)—showing how timing (Śukla Pañcamī in Pauṣa) is integral to vrata and pūjā practice.
