Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Fainting and Questions Concerning Droṇa
The verse highlights the ethical weight of martial knowledge and reputation: a teacher whose expertise sustains many is judged not only by skill but by how that power is exercised in war. Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s question frames Droṇa’s actions as morally and narratively consequential.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra, hearing the war reports, asks Sañjaya what Droṇa—renowned, powerful, and a universal authority for archers—actually did on the battlefield. It introduces or continues the account of Droṇa’s conduct and achievements in the fighting.
