Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Fainting and Questions Concerning Droṇa
The verse highlights how reputation and lineage frame moral attention in war: Dhṛtarāṣṭra seeks to understand the conduct of a famed teacher-warrior (Droṇa), implying that in a dharma-crisis, the deeds of exemplary figures are scrutinized as ethically consequential, not merely tactically important.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra questions Sañjaya about Droṇa’s actions on the battlefield—specifically, what the renowned, gold-adorned chariot-riding Droṇācārya did during the fighting—setting up a description of events and strategies in Droṇa Parva.
