वेगेन महतान्योन्यं संरब्धावभिपेततु: । अभिसंश्शलिष्टयोस्तत्र तयोराहवशौण्डयो:
vegena mahatānyonyaṁ saṁrabdhāvabhipetatuḥ | abhisaṁśśliṣṭayostatra tayorāhavaśauṇḍayoḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : «Portés par une vitesse prodigieuse et une résolution farouche, tous deux se ruèrent l’un sur l’autre. Là, lorsqu’ils se rapprochèrent et s’empoignèrent au plus près, ces deux champions, aguerris aux lois du combat, se heurtèrent dans un choc serré et violent.»
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the kṣatriya battlefield ethos: when wrath and momentum take hold, conflict rapidly becomes intimate and unavoidable. Ethically, it underscores how anger (saṁrambha) accelerates violence, narrowing choices and drawing opponents into direct, bodily confrontation.
Sañjaya describes two unnamed champions charging at each other with great speed and fury, then locking together in close quarters—an intense moment of hand-to-hand engagement within the larger battle.
