न पाण्डवेया न वयं नान्ये लोके धनुर्धरा: । युध्यमानस्य ते तुल्या: सत्यमेतद् ब्रवीमि ते,युद्ध करते समय आपकी समानता न तो पाण्डव, न हमलोग और न संसारके दूसरे धनुर्धर ही कर सकते हैं, यह मैं आपसे सच्ची बात कहता हूँ
na pāṇḍaveyā na vayaṁ nānye loke dhanurdharāḥ | yudhyamānasya te tulyāḥ satyam etad bravīmi te ||
Duryodhana dit : «Ni les fils de Pāṇḍu, ni nous-mêmes, ni aucun autre archer au monde ne peut t’égaler lorsque tu combats. Je te dis là la vérité.» Dans le contexte, c’est une louange stratégique : une tentative de raffermir la résolution d’un allié et de faire de l’excellence guerrière le facteur décisif d’une guerre aux enjeux moraux déjà lourds.
