यथा पाण्डो: सुता राज॑स्तथैव तव धर्मत: । तान् पालय स्थितो धर्मे गुरुशुश्रूषणे रतान्
yathā pāṇḍoḥ sutā rājas tathaiva tava dharmataḥ | tān pālaya sthito dharme guruśuśrūṣaṇe ratān |
Bhīṣma dit : «Ô roi, de même qu’ils sont les fils de Pāṇḍu, de même—selon la mesure du dharma—ils sont aussi les tiens. Toujours voués au service des aînés et des maîtres, ils méritent ta protection. Ainsi, demeurant fermement établi dans la droiture, prends soin d’eux comme de tes propres fils.»
