Adhyaya 8: Yogasthanas, Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama-Siddhi, and Shiva-Dhyana leading to Samadhi

अग्न्यभ्यासे जले वापि शुष्कपर्णचये तथा जन्तुव्याप्ते श्मशाने च जीर्णगोष्ठे चतुष्पथे

Transliteration

agnyabhyāse jale vāpi śuṣkaparṇacaye tathā jantuvyāpte śmaśāne ca jīrṇagoṣṭhe catuṣpathe

Translation

Près d’un lieu d’exercice du feu, dans l’eau, sur un amas de feuilles sèches ; dans un champ de crémation envahi de créatures ; dans une vieille étable abandonnée ; et au carrefour des quatre routes : ces lieux sont indiqués comme impropres aux observances stables de la discipline de Śiva, car ils troublent la fermeté de l’esprit et la pureté requise pour le culte et le yoga.
