FAQs

It gives a mantra-prayoga combining the bīja “hāṃ” with an oblation formula (svāhā) and an injunction: after ‘burning the bonds’ (pāśa-dahana) of the paśu, the practitioner ritually ‘binds’ (bandha) the initiate to Sadāśiva and formally communicates Śiva’s command as part of the rite.

Beyond narrative theology, it preserves practical liturgical technology—seed-syllables, offerings/fees, and procedural injunctions used in Śaiva worship and initiation—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of mantra, ritual mechanics, and sectarian soteriology alongside other sciences.

The verse frames liberation as removal of fetters (pāśa) and reorientation of the individual (paśu) toward Śiva’s authority; spiritually, it signifies purification and disciplined surrender to Śiva’s injunction as the condition for abiding in auspiciousness (śivatva).
