Concept: Praṇava as universal seed for invoking īśvara; deity is installed and honored through symbol (kumbha) and ordered upacāras (sāṅga).

Application: In kalasha-puja, begin with Oṁ, hold a stable dhyāna of Śiva’s form, and perform systematic aṅga-worship to complete the invocation.

Sandhi Resolution Notes: वर्धनीन्ततः = वर्धनीम् + ततः; शिवन्देवं = शिवम् + देवम्; वर्धन्यामर्चयेत् = वर्धन्याम् + अर्चयेत्.

FAQs

It gives a precise arcana instruction: invoke Śiva with the Praṇava (Oṁ) and worship Him in the kumbha (consecrated pot) and in the inner/auxiliary vessel called vardhanī, including the associated aṅgas (ancillary aspects used in nyāsa/attendant worship).

Beyond mythic narration, it preserves practical liturgical technology—specific vessels (kumbha, vardhanī), iconographic cues (bull-mount, lion-seat), and mantra-usage (Praṇava)—showing the Agni Purana as a handbook of temple and domestic ritual procedure.

Worship through correctly established mantra (Praṇava) and properly consecrated supports (kumbha/vardhanī) is presented as a purity-producing act that stabilizes devotion and aligns the rite with Śiva’s presence, thereby increasing ritual efficacy and religious merit.
