It teaches a practical puja sequence: deity-dhyāna (visualization of Varuṇa with attendant forms), mantra-japa/archana using “Oṃ varuṇāya namaḥ,” and then a sānnidhya-prayoga—actions meant to establish the deity’s invoked presence for the rite.
Alongside theology, the Agni Purana preserves operational ritual technology—iconic visualization, mantra application, and procedural steps for invocation—showing its coverage of applied liturgy (puja-vidhi) in addition to narrative and doctrine.
Meditation and mantra-worship are presented as means to invite divine proximity (sānnidhya), supporting purification and effective completion of water-related or order-protecting rites associated with Varuṇa.
