FAQs

It signals a transition within a Purāṇic cosmological exposition: after introducing an auspicious Manvantara (Svāyambhuva), the text turns to the dvīpa schema, a standard organizing framework in Purāṇic geography and chronology.

No single terrestrial site is named here; the verse introduces the dvīpas (cosmic ‘islands/continents’) associated with Manu, a conventional Purāṇic model rather than a directly mappable modern location in this line.

The verse primarily functions as a pedagogical cue—inviting careful learning (nibodhata) of cosmological-geographical order—rather than issuing a direct ethical injunction; its philosophical instruction emphasizes disciplined understanding of the narrated cosmic framework.
