Transliteration

karṇaśūlaṃ yathā'yātamasakṛddvijasattamāḥ | vandhyavādyaṃ yathā vādyaṃ mṛdaṃgānakapūrvakam

Translation

Oh, excelentísimos dos veces nacidos, aquello hería sus oídos una y otra vez como un dolor punzante. Era como música estéril y sin gozo, aunque estuviera acompañada de tambores y timbales.
