Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months
Narada (teaching in a vrata/ritual context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It links precise sacred timing (Phālguna Śukla Aṣṭamī) with disciplined worship of the divine couple (Śiva and Śivā), teaching that correct observance and reverent offerings can culminate in siddhi—spiritual efficacy and accomplished power.
Bhakti here is expressed as careful, loving pūjā—worshipping Śiva together with Śivā using respectful upacāras like fragrance—showing devotion as embodied practice aligned with dharmic time (tithi).
It highlights calendrical and ritual precision—identifying an auspicious tithi (Śukla Aṣṭamī) in a specific lunar month (Phālguna), reflecting Jyotiṣa-style time-reckoning applied to vrata and pūjā procedure.
