The Explanation of the Twelve-Month Caturthī Vrata
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It teaches that faith (śraddhā) combined with correct ritual method (vidhi) makes worship spiritually potent, yielding an exalted fruit described as rare even among the devas.
Bhakti here is not mere emotion; it is a faith-purified inner intent expressed through reverent worship. The verse links inner devotion (mind purified by śraddhā) with outward pūjā as a complete devotional act.
The stress on “vidhi” points to Kalpa (ritual procedure) as applied knowledge—performing pūjā according to prescribed rules rather than improvisation.
