इतिहासमिमं श्रुत्वा यथावदनुपूर्वश: । संयतात्मा शुचिर्भूत्वा पारं गत्वा च भारते

Transliteration

itihāsam imaṁ śrutvā yathāvad anupūrvaśaḥ | saṁyatātmā śucir bhūtvā pāraṁ gatvā ca bhārate || mahādānāni deyāni ratnāni vividhāni ca |

Translation

Dijo Vaiśaṃpāyana: «Habiendo escuchado esta historia en el debido orden y exactamente como es, con el ánimo refrenado y purificado por dentro y por fuera, y habiéndola llevado hasta su completa conclusión, oh Bhārata—deben entonces ofrecerse grandes dádivas, incluidas joyas de diversas clases. Tras concluir el Mahābhārata, el oyente, según su capacidad, debe realizar el śrāddha por los principales héroes que cayeron, y con devoción otorgar generosas donaciones a los Brāhmaṇas».
