विष्ण्वाराधन-फलम् तथा वर्णधर्माः
Worship of Vishnu through Varṇa-dharma
परपत्नीपरद्रव्यपरहिंसासु यो मतिम् न करोति पुमान् भूप तोष्यते तेन केशवः
parapatnīparadravyaparahiṃsāsu yo matim na karoti pumān bhūpa toṣyate tena keśavaḥ
O king, that man who does not even turn his mind toward another’s wife, another’s wealth, or harm to other beings—by such inner restraint, Keśava is truly pleased.
Sage Parāśara (in instruction to Maitreya; addressing a kingly archetype as 'bhūpa')
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: Which inner restraints (mind-level) please Keśava
Teaching: Ethical
Quality: directive
Concept: Keśava is pleased when one does not even entertain intention toward adultery, theft, or harm—purity begins at the level of mind.
Vedantic Theme: Dharma
Application: Guard attention: notice the first impulse toward exploitation or harm, redirect it to compassion, and cultivate contentment.
Vishishtadvaita: Inner intention (saṅkalpa) matters because the Lord relates personally to the devotee; purity of mind is a real mode of offering to Him.
Vishnu Form: Hari
Bhakti Type: Dasya
This verse treats intention as decisive: even refraining at the mental level from lust, greed, and violence is presented as the kind of purity that pleases Keśava.
Parāśara frames dharma not merely as outward compliance but as inward restraint—avoiding the very inclination toward adultery, theft, and harm.
Viṣṇu is shown as the sovereign moral center: devotion is validated through ethical self-mastery, and Keśava is pleased by conduct aligned with dharma and compassion.
