सिंहिका चाभवत् कन्या विप्रचित्तेः परिग्रहः
siṃhikā cābhavat kanyā vipracitteḥ parigrahaḥ
And a maiden named Siṃhikā was born; she became the wedded consort of Vipracitti.
Sage Parāśara (narrating genealogies) to Maitreya
They map how various cosmic races and powers are interconnected through descent and marriage, presenting history as an ordered unfolding under the larger sovereignty of Vishnu.
Through concise genealogical statements—naming individuals, their births, and marriages—Parāśara establishes the network of relationships that later explains conflicts, boons, and cosmic events.
Even when the verse is purely genealogical, the Purana’s framework treats all lineages and their destinies as operating within Vishnu’s overarching order (dharma and cosmic governance).
