Sage Parāśara (narrating to Maitreya)
Dharma Exemplar: Vasiṣṭha as archetypal brahmarṣi sustaining dharma through lineage
Key Kings: Vasiṣṭha
They mark the continuation of a major rishi-line, anchoring later genealogies and dharmic transmission within the Purana’s creation-era narrative.
Parāśara lists births and descendants in a concise genealogical style, showing how sages and their families arise as structured parts of the created order.
Even when Viṣṇu is not named in the verse, the Purana’s frame treats such ordered generations as unfolding under the Supreme Lord’s sustaining power and governance of dharma.
