gomatī niḥsṛtā yasmā tpraviṣṭā varuṇālayam | tatra snātvā naro bhaktyā aśvamedhaphalaṃ labhet
Where the Gomatī flows forth and enters the abode of Varuṇa—bathing there with devotion, a person obtains the fruit of the Aśvamedha sacrifice.
Skanda (deduced from Dvārakā Māhātmya narrative style within Skanda Purāṇa)
Tirtha: Gomatī-praveśa at Varuṇālaya (river-mouth tīrtha)
Type: sangam
Scene: At the Gomati’s mouth, waves meet the river; Varuṇa is suggested as a regal deity of waters; a devotee performs snāna with folded hands, while priests hold kalasha and recite mantras.
Devotional contact with sanctified waters is extolled as yielding extraordinary merit, rivaling grand sacrificial rituals.
The Gomatī’s sacred point of flowing into Varuṇa’s abode (the sea), a confluence-like tīrtha setting.
Snāna at the Gomatī’s sacred entry into the sea, done with bhakti.
